Welcome
About me
My name is Kim and I am a nerdy 30-something from northern Sweden with an interest in science, languages, politics, games, programming, science fiction, and anything that lets me be creative. I'm known by many names across the internet, but for the last 15 or so years Froglich has been my primary alias. I dream of eventually writing a book, as practice I have been writing episodes for a fictional paranormal podcast that I call Awaken.
I am a strong advocate for open source software and open standards, especially within the public sector. My belief is that we should minimise our reliance on big-tech and foster innovation through collaborative efforts.
Profession
I am a full-stack developer with a master's degree in ecology, which positions me in the intersection between software development and natural science. I currently work at a public university in Sweden, where I am part of the leadership group at a service unit focused on forest research. My responsibilities include IT-coordination, development and maintenance of various internal systems and some communications tasks.
My passion as a developer is mostly directed at back-end development. Linux, Docker, Go, PostgreSQL, and Python are my preferred technology choices, as they allow me to build performant and scalable applications for a variety of use-cases. I am also well versed in PHP, Java, R, and other languages, but they are not my preference. I have limited experience with .NET and Windows Server, Microsoft products overall are not my cup of tea.
For front-end development I have been known to get dirty with vanilla JavaScript, but I am not averse to leveraging Svelte and SvelteKit for large complex applications.
Beyond my primary role, I work as a full-stack developer and infrastructure engineer at an AI startup aiming to use machine learning to generate highly detailed maps.
